Calls for green energy construction program

Oil, and the wars to control its supply, are destroying our world. Our politicians, instead of fixing the problem, serve the needs of what President Eisenhower called “the military-industrial complex.”

On Sept. 11, 2001, Sen. John McCain said that after we attacked Afghanistan we had to attack Iraq, Iran, Libya, and Syria. Following his lead, our government has made war or threatened war against countries rich in oil (Iraq, Iran, Libya) or with pipeline routes (Afghanistan, Syria.)

While Sen. McCain led the charge (from behind) against countries that had nothing to do with 9/11, I believe the Saudi royal family and the Pakistani military continued to arm and fund the Taliban with barely a peep of protest from our government or the media.

Is our military budget (over $600 billion) a subsidy to the oil industry?

I believe our so-called leaders are stalling. They want to let their oil buddies squeeze out the last drop of crude. But to stop the oil wars we need a national green energy construction program, paid for by spending less on the military. Let’s change, before it’s too late.
