Concerned about allowing refugees

Common sense and discernment are needed.

In 2008 our economy was in shambles and we were told 20-30 million Americans were without health care. So, forget the economy — cover the people.

Today, there are still 20-30 million uninsured and I believe we have wasted over $1 trillion and may bankrupt our state with Medicaid.

In 2014 we were told “climate change, not ISIS, was the single most world problem.” However, the President and our Senators gave Iran the capacity to build nuclear facilities plus release over $100 billion to a country that calls us the devil. I ask “Does a nuclear bomb cause more climate change than my diesel truck?”

Finally our Governor says “I agree with the President; let’s accept refugees and support his humanitarian efforts.” Where was the concern when thousands of Syrians were being killed and the President erased his red line in the sand with Syria? Further, where is the vetting when a German journalist could obtain Syrian ID, driver’s license and passport for $2,000? The assertion by the President that we are turning our backs on orphans was rebutted by the U.N. that states 72 percent of the refugees are young males.

As I look at these actions, it appears these elected officials are more interested in protecting their party, than protecting the American people. The state of Washington may be liberal, but this is not an excuse for ignoring common sense.
