Concerned about violence in media
I believe that some of the root to violence in our country starts with lack of respect for elders and authority. What is wrong with putting your phone down when a teacher asks you or stop and put your hands up when a police officer asks you to? Now many parents are too busy both working trying to make ends meet to really know what their kids are doing or to teach respect. Today we invite murderers, rapist and other criminals into our home when we turn the on TV to entertain our selves and our children with violent TV shows. When that does not work we get them busy entertained on computers and cell phones playing games. I believe those who play violent games become numb to the violence they are involved with.
What’s the answer? Right now there is a movie called “Woodlawn” that is a true story that took place in 1979 when they were trying to integrate black students into white schools. It was not working; much fighting and riots. A whole football team decided to change and that changed a whole school and the city. What happened to that football team is hope. With that kind of hope we could end the violence happening in this nation. Go see the movie “Woodlawn.” Its showing at Barkley Village Theaters. Also be wise and careful what you watch and also your children.
