Unhappy with changes to Alabama Street

I have lived in Bellingham for 30 years, most of those years located at the top of Alabama Street. I believe the new construction is going to cost lives. The concrete barriers starting at Superior Street are not only confusing, I find them downright dangerous. I am the director of operations for the Pizza’zza restaurant on Superior and Alabama. Today alone, I have witnessed five vehicles so disoriented about the barriers that they have attempted to go the wrong way down the street. That is in a total of 15 minutes. I was wondering if the project coordinators have either lived or, at the very least, traveled the Alabama corridor at all. Also, the barrier blocks one of only two entrances to our establishment, thus deterring business. Any ideas to rectify this issue?
