Pays tribute to Heiner’s legacy

I am deeply saddened by the death of a wonderful citizen, educator and artist in our community. Dr. Harold Heiner was an exceptional man — leaving behind an educational monument that will continue to enrich the lives of many for years to come. Leaving behind a legacy was not Dr. Heiner’s highest value. Beauty was. And evidence of his artistry abounds on the campus he grew during his tenure at Whatcom Community College. His influence, dedication and perseverance created a rich and beautiful academic environment with a well-respected student enrollment that reaches across the globe. Having worked closely with Harold was a pleasure and an honor and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Thank you, Harold, for your friendship and dedication to our community — we will all continue to celebrate and enjoy what you brought to this world: beauty, passion, and the quest for life-long learning.
