Says Watson is leader Ferndale needs

Whenever I attend a meeting or event important to the Ferndale community, be it public, cultural or charitable, I am sure to see Cathy Watson. She is always there, working to make Ferndale a better place.

I am impressed by Cathy’s dedication to providing all Ferndale residents with access to healthy futures. She acts as city council liaison to the Ferndale Community Service Cooperative and the Ferndale Arts Commission, and volunteers with the Ferndale Kiwanis, Friends of the Ferndale Library, American Red Cross, Ferndale Auxiliary Communications Service, Whatcom Emergency Management Team, and the Ferndale Boys and Girls Club. She successfully obtained $7,700 in grant funding for the Ferndale Arts Commission that has benefited the Art in the Park event and funded a summer youth theater camp.

Cathy’s experience as a project manager with NASA has made her a communicator, a leader, a problem solver, and a careful steward of public funds. I believe her tenure as a Ferndale council member reflects her care for the quality of life in Ferndale as well as a conservative position on tax increases to keep Ferndale affordable. She has been innovative in identifying viable solutions to the growing pains that our community is facing, like congested traffic, an aging infrastructure, and future retail and commercial development. Her visions for Ferndale include bringing more family wage jobs to Ferndale, revitalizing the downtown area, and obtaining state and federal funding to complete the Thornton-Second Avenue connector.

Please vote for Cathy Watson, Ferndale mayoral candidate. It’s our community, let’s make it better.
