I believe the $12,500 our “7-0 county council” committed to non-profit ReSources in January was totally inappropriate given chairman Weimer’s former CEO relationship with that organization. The additional $35,000 ReSources gave on Sept. 29 to pay doorbellers in support of five districts and a liberal majority into permanence via Prop. 9 on the Nov. 3 ballot not only is inappropriate but I believe borders on corruption!
Couple in $17,000 from Seattle environmentalists plus $2,135 from locals and we voters, in order to protect ourselves, I believe have no choice but to vote Kathy Kershner and Bruce Ayers back into public service as members of Whatcom County Council. I believe “simple rules and enforcement,” Kathy’s four-year term there (her last as chairman) making her one of the best candidates ever for getting that done. Bruce’s City Council and business experience plus many years in the same office with Sam Crawford during Sam’s early years on the County Council make Bruce extraordinarily well qualified for that, as well!
Jails, property rights, waterfront and bay bottom toxics relative to Salish Sea fisheries, road fundings for “low density creep northward,” so many brick and mortar vacancies and declining revenues make study, thought and experience on that council extremely vital throughout the days, months and years ahead!
