Recently the Washington Square Area Resident Council held its annual board of directors election. We asked the League of Women Voters who, headed by co-president Judy Hopkinson, happily volunteered, and conducted the voting in accordance with applicable law, which included assisting persons with disabilities.
The women also told us about their organization, and not only the importance of voting but of participating in the democratic process. They recently held a forum on incarceration alternatives, and on Sept. 19 will hold one on affordable housing in Whatcom County. Speaking for myself, I urge everyone to attend.
The Washington Square Are Resident Council Board expresses its thanks to the League of Women Voters for their generous assistance in our election, and looks forward to asking them again next year.
