I am writing to ask for our community’s help in locating my cousin, Besalynn M. James, a respected elder of the Lummi Tribal Nation who has been missing since Jan. 21, 2025.

Besalynn is 62 years old, 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She has a scar on her right arm and a tattoo with the name “BES” on her arm.

Besalynn was last seen with a man named Terry Bowman. Our family and the Lummi Nation are deeply concerned for her safety and well-being.

We ask everyone in Bellingham and Whatcom County to please share her photo and keep watch for any sign of her. If you have any information — no matter how small — please call the Lummi Police Department or 911 immediately.

We are grateful for any help in bringing Besalynn home safely. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and continues to stand with our family and community.
