Ferndale is a better community right now because of the achievements of current City Council member Cathy Watson. Her NASA professional skills, both as a public affairs officer and aerospace engineer responsible for budget, personnel and research protocols, have already been effective in securing thousands of dollars in grants for city programs in the arts. I met Cathy soon after both of our families retired here, each of us becoming volunteers in our new community. Her strong support for a new Ferndale library was a key component of our reaching that goal. Further, she remains a strong friend of the Ferndale library, always ready to help with anything from plant sales to library science programs. She is just one example of the many citizens who move to Ferndale, putting down vigorous new roots which benefit the city and region with new ideas, experiences and broad horizons, enriching both the old and the new with service and capable leadership. Cathy’s campaign slogan is “It’s Our City, Let’s Make It Even Better!” Let’s give her the opportunity as the next mayor of Ferndale.
