Concerned over fire danger along Fourth Street

I am concerned about the fire danger posed by the waist-high grass that lines the west side of Fourth Street and the hill down to the dog walking park. While sitting on one of the benches along Fourth Street, overlooking the bay from amongst the haze from the wild fires around Whatcom County, I found a book of matches. In the wrong hands those matches could have easily set a fire endangering the nearby homes and the newly renovated water treatment facility. It seems imperative to me that steps be taken immediately to mow and remove the dry vegetation to minimize the danger of a devastating and costly fire.
