Fire weather watch for Kittitas Valley for Saturday - gusts may reach 35 mph

On Thursday at 1:48 p.m. the NWS Pendleton OR released a fire weather watch valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. for Kittitas Valley.

Winds are forecasted to be west 10 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 8%.

"Low Relative Humidity and Windy conditions will create critical fire weather conditions across the Yakima Valley the Columbia Basin of Oregon, Eastern Columbia River Gorge, and the Mountains of Central Oregon," explains the NWS. "Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended."

This watch is in effect until Saturday at 11 p.m.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
