Bellingham and Whatcom County will see several stormy days as a string of wet and windy storms pass through Western Washington.

An atmospheric river will dump heavy rain on the lowlands and snow in the mountains starting Saturday, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Seattle said.

“Sunday is now trending wetter as this system slowly slides east and inland. Similar to Saturday, breezy south winds are expected for the coast and north part,” the weather service said online.

Bellingham and the North Cascades “will receive a glancing blow and receive significant rainfall. While river and stream rises are expected in these areas, it currently appears the risk of significant impacts is low,” the weather service said in an email.

In addition, several storm systems will move across the Pacific Northwest next week.

“Lowland rain, mountain snow, and strong winds will all be possible at various points. Currently, the time frame with the highest potential for strong winds is Wednesday next week,” the weather service said.
