A cold and blustery storm is blowing in from the Gulf of Alaska this week, bringing the chance of an early spring snow shower to Whatcom County.

Overnight lows will dip into the 30s and daytime highs likely won’t reach 50 degrees for several days starting Thursday, March 23, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Seattle.

“A round of gusty winds, lowland rain, and mountain snow are expected,” the weather service said online.

Unseasonably cold temperatures early Friday, March 24, could bring snow well into the lowlands.

“Snow levels could dip to 500 to 1,000 feet during the night and morning hours, but impactful accumulation in the lowlands is not expected,” the weather service said.

Cooler-than-normal weather is likely to continue into next week.
