Snow storm delivers up to 8 inches of snow in Whatcom County. Here’s what’s next

Interstate 5 was wet but clear of snow from Lake Samish to the Peace Arch about 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, after snow fell from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 25, at Bellingham International Airport in Whatcom County.

The National Weather Service observations at the airport recorded 38 degrees at 8 a.m. Sunday.

A winter weather advisory remained in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday. Up to 1 inch of additional snow may accumulate and roads may be slippery, according to the weather service.

Citizen reports of snowfall overnight include 8 inches in Sumas and 3 inches in Custer.

The weather service’s forecast calls for a chance of rain or showers Sunday with a high temperature of 41. Lows at night will reach below freezing, leading to likely rain and snow Monday, Feb. 27. However, little or no snow accumulation is expected.
