Another round of snow aims for Bellingham, lowland Whatcom. Here’s when

Bellingham and lowland Whatcom County are likely to see another dose of snow as a storm system arrives at the tail end of a late-winter cold snap.

Current forecasts call for at least 3 inches of lowland snow starting Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, or later that evening, according to a briefing from the National Weather Service in Seattle.

“While certainly too early to start considering headlines just yet, another round of lowland snow seems increasingly likely,” the forecast said.

There’s some uncertainty about how much snow will fall and how long it will last because the Fraser outflow that’s bringing an arctic chill to Western Washington for several days is supposed to ease on Sunday.

Even so, temperatures next week are supposed to remain below normal, with overnight lows near freezing, according to the forecast.
