Blustery storms aimed at Whatcom again. Here’s what to expect

Expect the first in a series of wet and windy storms to hit Whatcom County on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Wind gusts of 30-40 mph are forecast for western Whatcom County, especially near Bellingham Bay, said meteorologist Gary Schneider at the National Weather Service in Seattle.

“It’s a good front, but nothing too out of the ordinary for November,” Schneider told The Bellingham Herald.

Wind gusts will be below advisory level, but will still be strong enough to cause scattered power outages, he said.

River flooding is not an immediate threat.

And get ready for more blustery weather every day through next week, because the jet stream is aimed directly at Western Washington.

“We’re in the storm track right now with a series of fronts moving through every day or so,” Schneider said.

Temperatures through the stormy week should be in the low 50s during the day and the low 40s at night.
