Here’s when to take your solitary walk this week with Whatcom due for lightning, hail

Get ready for a blustery Saturday, May 2, with steady rain, gusty winds and a chance of thunderstorms and hail, the National Weather Service said.

Forecasts call for a quarter- to a half-inch of rain during the day with a high temperature near 60 in Bellingham and Whatcom County.

Winds will increase during the afternoon and evening to 15-25 mph with stronger gusts as the possibility of thunderstorms increases, the weather service said on Facebook and Twitter.

Residents are urged to take shelter because hail, lightning and erratic winds can accompany a thunderstorm.

Rain will taper to showers on Sunday, with some sun breaks and another chance of a thunderstorm before noon.

Daytime temperatures will be in the high 50s, according to the forecast.
