A wet start to Whatcom’s weekend is forecast to give way to snow on Sunday and Monday

Driving could be difficult Sunday and Monday with the forecast of snow adding to residual damage and flooding from the Friday-Saturday rainstorm.

Both the National Weather Service and Environment Canada are predicting snow in the lowlands of Western Washington and the South Coast of British Columbia as cold front moves through from Sunday through Tuesday, Feb. 2-4.

Accumulations are expected on yards and rooftops, but not on roads because temperatures will remain mostly above freezing, according to forecasts.

On Sunday expect snow, rain or a rain-snow mix in the morning, changing to all rain.

Monday will be sunny, with snow returning overnight.

Tuesday will start with a rain-snow mix, changing to all rain.

Daytime temperatures will be in the low 40s, with overnight lows near freezing.

Snow levels will drop to about 500 feet, according to forecasts.
