Will Whatcom County residents see a white Christmas? Here’s what the forecast says

Bing Crosby sang about a white Christmas — but if he lived in Whatcom County, he’d spend a lot of time dreaming.

That’s according to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, which just released a map showing the odds of a snowy Yuletide across the United States.

In Western Washington, the possibility of having an inch or more of snow on the ground for the holiday is less than 10% historically.

But in Eastern Washington, the odds are reversed, with a 90% to 100% likelihood of snow on Dec. 25.

So what are the chances that Whatcom County will see wintry weather at the end of this year?

Slim to none.

In its 30-day forecast, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center sees above-normal temperatures with above-normal rainfall for the month of December.
