Update: Northbound I-5 traffic through Bellingham resumes after semi collision

UPDATE (7 p.m. July 16): The scene of the crash has been cleared, and all I-5 traffic through Bellingham has resumed. The original article appears below. WSDOT announced via social media that the scene had cleared around 6:40 p.m.

A collision involving a semi-truck is blocking both lanes of northbound traffic Thursday evening along Interstate 5 in Bellingham.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported the collision just south of North State Street around 5:15 p.m. on social media.

Medical aid and fire assistance have arrived on the scene, according to WSDOT. No injuries have been announced.

Delays should be expected in the area, as “this might take some time to clear,” WSDOT posted on X at 5:24 p.m.
