Motorists can expect overnight closures on southbound Interstate 5 this week between Blaine and Ferndale for lane repairs and improvements, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The closure will take place Nov. 12 - 14 between State Route 543 in Blaine and the Nooksack River Bridge in Ferndale.

“Along this 10-mile stretch of southbound I-5 in Whatcom County, the freeway lanes, shoulders, and some on- and off-ramp connection points are showing signs of deterioration, including potholes, cracks, and ruts,” WSDOT said in a project overview statement.
