UPDATE: WSDOT reported State Route 9 reopened between Tom and Lindsay roads at 7:54 p.m. Thursday.

A truck hauling lumber crashed Thursday on State Route 9 just north of Tom Road near Everson in Whatcom County.

The truck went slightly off the road before tipping over and spilling the lumber, according to social media posts from Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding. The crash was first reported around 12:40 p.m. Thursday Oct. 9.

State Route 9 is closed between Tom Road and Lindsay Road, with tow trucks en route, Harding said.

The crash damaged a nearby power pole, and Puget Sound Energy is sending people to make repairs, according to Harding.

No injuries have been reported. Harding told The Herald WSDOT has no estimate for when the road might reopen, and drivers should look for alternative routes.
