UPDATE: WSDOT reported all lanes were clear and traffic resumed around 4:40 p.m. The original article follows.

A crash on Interstate 5 has blocked the left lane of southbound traffic near the exit to Guide Meridian in Bellingham.

The crash was reported on social media by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) at 3:13 p.m. Thursday.

Traffic is backed up a mile on southbound I-5 and nearly two miles on Meridian, according to the WSDOT interactive map. Fire assistance, the Incident Response Team and Washington State Patrol have arrived on the scene, according to the map.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
