Crash sends Whatcom bus into Everson gas station after motorist reportedly runs red light
A Whatcom County bus crash sent one person to the hospital last week but no serious injuries were reported.
The crash occurred at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18 at the intersection of East Pole Road and Hannegan Road in Everson.
The bus was heading west on East Pole Road when the driver of a different vehicle reportedly ran a red light and collided with the bus, according to Maureen McCarthy with the Whatcom Transportation Authority.
The collision caused the bus to crash into a gas pump and an awning structure at Hinote’s Corner Kwick Stop Gas Station. No gas leak was reported.
The driver of the bus was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center but was determined to not be seriously injured and was released later that night.
The driver of the other vehicle and the sole passenger on the bus sustained minor injuries and were treated on site by responders.
