A woman was killed in a single vehicle collision Monday night in Whatcom County.

Gemma P. Davis, 21, of Sequim was heading east on Mount Baker Highway near Cornell Creek Road around 11:30 p.m. when she crossed into the shoulder and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll, according to Washington State Patrol.

Davis was not wearing a seat belt. She was ejected from the vehicle during the roll.

The car, a 1991 Toyota Corolla, came to a rest in the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic for about five hours. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
