Southbound I-5 traffic slowed for this rollover crash in Bellingham

An rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Bellingham appeared to have involved three cars and backed up traffic during the morning commute on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Bellingham Fire Department units were called at 8:11 a.m. Thursday to southbound I-5 for the report of an expanded traffic collision, according to the PulsePoint app.

The Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted soon after that all lanes were blocked, and traffic cameras in the area showed one car on its side in the median and two other cars that appeared to be involved on either shoulder.

Southbound traffic appeared to be using the Meridian Street exit to avoid the collision, but cameras showed traffic backed up beyond the Bakerview exit.

As of 8:24 a.m., WSDOT tweeted that traffic was able to get by the crash in the right lane.

As of 9 a.m., WSDOT cameras showed all cars had been removed and traffic had cleared.
