You may want to avoid driving I-5 through Bellingham on Wednesday and Thursday
Northbound Interstate 5 through part of Bellingham will be reduced to one lane Wednesday and Thursday for paving, and the Washington State Department of Transportation warns Whatcom County drivers to expect daytime delays.
One of the the two northbound lanes on I-5 between Northwest Avenue and Bakerview Road, along with the Bakerview on-ramp to northbound I-5, will be closed between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 2-3, according to a WSDOT release Tuesday, Sept. 1.
During the closure, WSDOT maintenance crews will pave the right lane and the on-ramp, the release said.
WSDOT recommends drivers consider using alternate routs, such as Northwest Avenue and Pacific Highway, to avoid delays.
