Traffic backed up on northbound I-5 in Seattle after five-car crash

All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of South Spokane Street in Seattle were back open after a five-car crash, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Seattle Fire Department.

The all-clear was given at 7:22 p.m., a little more than an hour after the collision had blocked all five lanes.

One person was trapped and rescue crews successfully cut the roof off one vehicle to reach them, according to the Fire Department. That person is reportedly in stable condition.

Video shared by WSDOT showed snarled traffic, with a multitude of flashing lights from emergency responders.
