Seattle weather: rain, cooler temperatures return

Alright, who wished back the rain?

It's been warm and sunny in Seattle lately, but we're looking at some wetness and cooler temperatures in the days ahead - that's actually the weather we should be seeing this time of year, said National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Reedy.

But don't expect to get soaked, either. About a tenth of an inch of rain, or less, will fall each day through the weekend, Reedy said. Temperatures will cool to the upper 50s to lower 60s.

"As dry as it's been, we could really use a little bit more rain," Reedy said.

The rain showery shake-up begins with an upper level trough moving through the area, Reedy said. Wednesday is starting out with some showers that will turn off and on throughout the day before fading away around 9 to 10 p.m.

A weak ridge will move in Thursday, giving Seattle a sort of incomplete break from the rain, as the skies dry out save for a lingering 10% to 20% chance of rain at higher elevations, Reedy said.

So if you need to bust out that picnic gear again to convince yourself it's still an early summer, Thursday might be the day. Just remember a jacket.

Showers will return Thursday night with the next frontal system, bringing rain back to the area for the rest of the week into the weekend.

Next week though, we'll see drier weather return with some warming temperatures.

Good news for summer vibes, bad news for drought conditions.
