The Floral Show is open to amateur gardeners of all ages, and there is no entry fee.
Entrants include children entering their first sunflower to experienced gardeners proudly displaying prize dahlias. Exhibitors can also earn ribbons and cash premiums, according to a press release from organizers.
"The biggest misconception is that your flowers have to be perfect," said Floral Building Superintendent Jennifer Mendoza in the release. "They don't. We want people to have fun, show off what they're growing, and experience the excitement of seeing their own flowers on display at the fair."
The Floral Department includes dozens of categories, including cut flowers, floral arrangements, hanging baskets, potted plants, shrubs, vines, fairy gardens, and Art in the Garden, the latter of which features handmade garden decor.
Registration is open through July 15. Entries may be delivered to the Floral Building from 6-8:30 p.m July 20 to 7-9 p.m. the next day.
The Floral Building will then be open throughout the fair, giving thousands of visitors the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and diversity of local gardens.
