Earthquake hits near Oak Harbor

A 3.81-magnitude earthquake hit near Oak Harbor at about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday night, with aftershocks following soon after.

The earthquake hit about 16 miles underground.

Residents throughout the region, including in western Skagit County, felt light shaking, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS recorded 1,757 reports as of Thursday morning.

North Whidbey Fire and Rescue reported Thursday morning that there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries related to the earthquake and aftershocks.

On Facebook, many residents from throughout the area inquired about the earthquake.

Residents from La Conner to Everett and Marysville to Orcas Island reported shaking.

Those who felt shaking can submit an online report to the USGS.
