Update: 13-year-old arrested for murder

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy Friday in connection with the death of a 42-year-old woman whose body was found on the back porch of a South Wenatchee business May 30.

The Wenatchee Police Department arrested the boy after finding weapons and other items, including a notebook, on his person and at his homes in Wenatchee and Malaga that police say match the video footage obtained in the course of the investigation, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Chelan County Juvenile Court Tuesday. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.

An autopsy confirmed that the woman was killed by "multiple stab/puncture wounds," according to the affidavit. She was identified in the affidavit only by her initials: C.H.A.-H.

The boy was arrested at the Wenatchee Public Library without incident after a police officer saw him walking on Friday in the area of Orondo Avenue and Washington Street.

Police said that the clothing and weapons found will be submitted to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

The boy appeared in Chelan County Juvenile Court Monday where a judge set his bail at $1 million, according to Cory Stephens, the juvenile court administrator.

Chelan County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Valaas said the case is currently in juvenile court and the prosecutor's office has not reached a decision whether to try him as an adult.
