How much does gas cost in Washington state?
As of Monday, a gallon of regular gasoline in Washington state cost about $4.92 on average, according to AAA.
Gas prices in the Evergreen State have increased about 29 cents on average over the past week, the automobile association says, and a whopping 77 cents over the past month.
Around this same time in 2025, gas cost about $4.07 per gallon in Washington state, according to AAA.
California had the priciest gas in the nation on Monday, averaging $5.52 a gallon.
Why are gas prices so high right now?
The war in Iran is pushing up prices for everything from fuel to food, The Associated Press previously reported.
As of Monday, a key Middle Eastern maritime port was closed to shipping in response to air strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel, halting trade and sending crude oil costs soaring.
Crude oil is the main ingredient used to make gasoline and diesel — and about half of the price for gas comes from the cost of crude oil, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Gas stations’ annual switch to summer-blend gasoline is also pushing prices higher in Washington state.
How much does gas cost in my Washington city?
According to AAA, the most expensive gas in Washington state could be found west of the Cascades on Monday.
Residents in Skamania County in Southwest Washington can expect to pay the most for gas, AAA said, with stations charging $5.22 a gallon on average.
AAA said the Washington county with the cheapest gas was Astin County, where gas was averaging $4.26 a gallon.
