Eastern WA hotel ranked among best in world. What makes it a top place to stay?
Looking for a place to stay? An Eastern Washington hotel is one of the best hotels in the world, according to Condé Nast Traveler.
The publication recently announced the winners of its 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards — including the top hotels, resorts, spas, cruise lines and more.
According to Condé Nast Traveler, readers cast more than 757,000 votes in the annual survey.
Here’s which Pacific Northwest hotel made the list:
What is the best hotel in the Pacific Northwest?
According to Condé Nast Traveler, the top hotel in the Pacific Northwest in 2025 was The Finch in downtown Walla Walla.
The small city, which has fewer than 35,000 residents, is a popular tourism destination with many award-winning wineries, esteemed restaurants and other attractions.
The Finch was No. 38 on the publication’s list of the top 50 best hotels in the world.
It was the only inn in Washington state mentioned on the list.
Its sister hotel in Boise, The Sparrow, ranked lower in the top 50, landing at No. 42.
The Finch also ranked among the world’s best hotels in the 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Why stay at The Finch in downtown Walla Walla?
In its 2025 Readers Choice Awards, Condé Nast Traveler mentioned The Finch’s proximity to more than 120 wineries in Walla Walla Valley, as well as its timeless look.
“The Finch’s vintage aesthetic aptly complements the slower pace of life encourages among the endless waves of vineyard rows, but there’s no mistaking its playfully dressed-up nostalgia for dusty,” Condé Nast Traveler said.
The publication highlighted the hotel’s unique chandelier — composed of “old car parts, artist’s mannequins and other junk-room miscellanea” — as well as a banister strung with Christmas lights and “the silhouette of a life-sized pin-up in the lobby.”
“Unabashed funk and a clear sense of style play co-starring roles at this stay and carve out a place for the past to shake hands with the present,” Condé Nast Traveler said.

The Finch is centrally located at 325 East Main St. in Walla Walla near several shops and restaurants, making it an ideal location for a weekend getaway.
The hotel’s avian theme extends beyond its name.
Upon checking in, guests receive a “field journal” in the form of a 32-page memo book. Its pages are primarily blank, allowing guests to fill the space with notes or doodles from their trip.
It also includes a map of downtown Walla Walla, a map of the hotel, guest Wi-Fi information and a QR code for the hotel compendium.
The Finch has a total of 80 rooms with five standard room sizes, three suite options and two accessible room styles.
Depending on the night, room rates can start as low as $109.
You can book a stay online directly through the hotel’s website.
Walla Walla hotel offer special perk for guests
The Finch recently celebrated its recognition by Condé Nast Traveler in an email to past guests.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from you, our guests. Your votes, your stories, and your continued support made this possible,” the hotel wrote in the email. “From check-in to check-out, we strive to make every stay memorable, and knowing that you took the time to vote for us is the greatest reward of all.”
The Finch is celebrating the recognition with a yearlong Golden Guest initiative.
Each month, one guest will be selected at random to be the Goldest Guest, receiving a surprise in their room at check-in and exclusive perks throughout their stay, according to the email sent to former guests.
The Finch is part of The Nest family of properties, which also includes The Sparrow in Boise, The Lark in Bozeman, Montana, and The Wren in Missoula, Montana.
All four of The Nest’s properties were recognized in the Readers’ Choice Awards, with each property landing in top five in its respective region.
The Finch’s sister hotels will also feature the Golden Guest initiative through the next year.
“We’re beyond grateful for your support. Your votes are the reason we earned these top spots, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said the email. “From all of us at The Nest, thank you for helping us soar.”
