Where are the best foodie cities in the US? These 4 Washington spots made list
Washington is no slouch when it comes to foodie culture — from fish and chips to Fisher scones, it has some well-loved culinary traditions.
And now some cities across the Evergreen State are being recognized as places to find good food without breaking the bank.
They’re on WalletHub’s list of 2025’s Best Foodie Cities in America, which was released Sept. 29.
“While exploring culinary delights can sometimes be costly, many cities across the U.S. offer budget-friendly options that don’t sacrifice quality,” WalletHub said, noting that the cities on its list “appeal to both home cooks and adventurous eaters eager to sample local flavors.”
The personal finance company relied on more than two-dozen metrics to create its ranking, from farmers markets per capita to the presence of Michelin-starred restaurants.

How foodie-friendly are Washington cities?
The Evergreen State is well represented on WalletHub’s list of the best foodie cities in the U.S.
Four cities in Washington made the list, including three in western Washington and one east of the Cascades.
You’re on the mark if you picked Seattle as one of them.
The Emerald City placed highest among Washington cities, coming in at No. 4, behind Miami, Portland and San Francisco.
It scored particularly high in terms of the diversity, accessibility and quality of its food, per WalletHub.
Meanwhile, Vancouver, was the next-best finisher for the Evergreen State, coming in at No. 42, followed by Spokane at No. 68 and Tacoma at No. 79.

How did WalletHub come up with its ranking?
WalletHub evaluated 182 large cities in the U.S. for its foodie-friendly ranking.
It used 28 weighted metrics in two categories: affordability, and diversity, accessibility and quality.
The metrics ranged from grocery and restaurant meal costs, to sales and food taxes, average beer and wine prices, restaurant diversity, presence of Michelin-starred restaurants and number of food trucks and gourmet specialty-food stores per capita.
