Realtor.com names WA city among 10 most affordable beach towns in US to buy a house
If you’re looking to buy a beach house on the cheap in Washington state, you might want to check out Ocean Shores. In fact, it’s one of the most affordable beach towns in America, according to Realtor.com.
Last week, the real estate listing website released its ranking of the most affordable beach cities in the U.S., and Ocean Shores came in 10th place with a median list price of $425,000. The list highlighted its “direct shoreline access to both the Pacific Ocean and the north bay of Grays Harbor,” as well as its hiking trails and public golf course.
The 7,000-person town was ranked just behind its Pacific Northwest neighbor Newport, Ore., which came in ninth place. The top spot on the list went to Pascagoula, Mississippi, which had a median home price of $164,900.
Located in Grays Harbor County, Ocean Shores sits on a peninsula, which gives it ocean access to the west and access to Grays Harbor in the east. There are 15 public beaches within city limits, according to Washington’s Department of Ecology.
If that isn’t enough water access for you, it also has a series of connected lakes and canals that span nearly the length of the city. Ocean Shores is located just over 70 miles from Olympia, 100 miles from Tacoma and 130 miles from Seattle.
