Man suspected of DUI found covered in bear spray after crashing into fence, WA cops say
A 43-year-old man was suspected of driving under the influence after he crashed into a fence in Washington, officials said.
On May 11, the man was found covered in bear spray after crashing into a fence in Bonney Lake, according to a May 13 Facebook post by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
During the investigation, the man put his phone, keys and a drug pipe on the trunk of his car, deputies said.
Officers learned the man went to a home where he wasn’t “welcome” and got doused in bear spray by the homeowner, officials said.
While under the influence of fentanyl, the man drove away and eventually crashed, officials said.
Witnesses told officers the man tried to leave the scene before officials got there, police said.
The man was booked into jail for DUI, hit and run, and possession of drug paraphernalia, officers said.
Bonney Lake is about a 15-mile drive southeast from Tacoma.
