Son wins big in Washington lottery game — but needs dad to double-check ticket
A man didn’t believe he bought a winning lottery ticket, so he had his dad double-check it, lottery officials in Washington said.
His father’s confirmation helped him finally believe he won $50,000, Washington’s Lottery said in a Sept. 11 news release.
The man bought a ticket for his usual Scratch lottery game, 7-11-21, at a grocery store in Cashmere.
He started scratching through each row. When he reached the last row, he realized he won the the top-tier prize of $50,000, lottery officials said.
But he couldn’t believe it, so he had his dad take a look at the ticket. Then he scanned it through the Washington’s Lottery app to be sure.
Once he processed that he won the big prize, he told his family.
Now he has plans to use the money on a vacation. He also told lottery officials he’d like to help his father go to Mexico to visit family.
Cashmere is in central Washington, about 140 miles east of Seattle.
