A suspected DUI driver crashed into a Puyallup home, hitting a woman inside early Thursday morning, Puyallup police said.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue was at the scene, and the Puyallup Police Department’s Major Collision Response Team was investigating.

Puyallup police responded to a call at 5:16 a.m. about a car crashing into a home in the 2100 block of 23rd Street Place Southeast, said police.

The driver, a woman in her 50s, lost control of the car while making a turn, police said. She is suspected to have driven while under the influence.

The 81-year-old resident was thrown when hit by the car and sustained minor injuries, police say. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

Puyallup police tweeted the initial incident at 5:52 a.m. The photo they posted shows a black sedan with its front half inside the home.
