Helicopter pulls man from ravine near Ski Bluewood. WA avalanche reports unconfirmed
A man was rescued with a medical helicopter Friday afternoon from a ravine south of the Ski Bluewood area, said Columbia County Sheriff Joseph Helm in Dayton, Wash.
The rescue effort was wrapping up about 2:45 p.m. and the sheriff did not have information yet on whether there was a small avalanche or snow slide in the Table Rock area or whether the person had slid down the slope.
Table Rock is east of Walla Walla, just north of the Oregon state line.
Three people were in the area on snow mobiles and snow bikes, the sheriff said. The two other people stayed with the person until he was rescued.
Ski Bluewood posted on social media that its staff was using the ski area’s snowcat to assist in a rescue off of Table Rock in the Blue Mountains.
“No avalanche inside of Bluewood boundaries,” the ski area posted at about 2 p.m. “This is all we know at this time.”
