Spring rolls recalled from Aldi for a possibly ‘life-threatening’ problem
Spring rolls sold under Aldi’s store brand have been recalled because the food in the box might not match the food on the box — and that can be a “serious or life-threatening” problem.
Tai Foong USA’s recall notice says boxes of Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls may have shrimp spring rolls instead. Besides annoying palate preferences, the mistake puts shrimp spring rolls in packaging that doesn’t let the consumer know there’s shrimp in the spring rolls.
That’s a big problem for people who have a shellfish or shrimp allergy.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to shrimp or shellfish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the recall notice states.
This covers 10-ounce boxes, UPC No. 4099100222258 with a best by date of 05/17/2027. If there’s any chance someone with a shrimp allergy will eat the spring rolls, return them to Aldi for a refund or at least throw them away.
