The deadline for returning ballots in the Whatcom County general election, or getting them postmarked, is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Ballot drop boxes located across the county will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Drop box locations are online at whatcomcounty.us/1863/Ballot-Drop-Box-Locations.
Voters who choose to mail their ballots should send them by Monday, Nov. 2, to ensure they are postmarked by Election Day, the county auditor said. Auditor Debbie Adelstein has assured voters their ballots will arrive with one 49-cent stamp, even though the ballots are slightly overweight.
More information is at whatcomcounty.us/1732/Current-Election.
Turnout as of 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, was 23,908 ballots out of 128,613 registered voters, or 19 percent. Turnout statewide was 16 percent.
