Local Election

Have you voted yet? Here’s what to know about Whatcom County’s election

Ballots are due by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in Washington state’s vote-by-mail election.

That means ballots must be postmarked — not simply mailed — or placed in an official ballot drop box before that symbolic poll-closing time.

Ballots can also be dropped off at the Auditor’s Office in the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand St., by 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pandemic measures are in place, including masking and social distancing.

Ballots that are received in the mail Wednesday and afterward will only be accepted if they were postmarked in time.

Voters can change their address in person up to that time and also register and cast a ballot.

Off-year races on Tuesday’s election include Whatcom County Council, city councils, the Port of Bellingham and school boards, as well as funding requests for some fire-protection districts and local initiatives.
