Whatcom residents have given $350K to presidential candidates. Here’s who got the cash

Whatcom County residents have donated $350,000 to presidential candidates since the last election, according to numbers from the Federal Election Commission. President Donald Trump has received $87,287 and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders has received $64,358 from Nov. 9, 2016, to Jan. 31, 2019.

Other Democratic candidates still active and on the Washington state ballot who received Whatcom financial support are Elizabeth Warren, $46,643; Pete Buttigieg, $28,851; Amy Klobuchar, $8,567; Joseph Biden, $8,461; and Tulsi Gabbard, $7,442.

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee raised $48,062 from Whatcom County before dropping out Aug. 21, 2019.

Other Democratic candidates who received Whatcom financial support but who have dropped out of the race are Andrew Yang, $16,146; Cory Booker, $5,311; and Michael Bennet, $310.

National candidates who have dropped out of the race raised cash in Whatcom County, including: Democrats Kamala Harris, $11,304; Marianne Williamson, $6,361; Beto O’Rourke, $5,546; Eric Swalwell, $4,000; Julian Castro, $834; Steve Bullock, $568; and Kirsten Gillibrand, $285; plus Republican Joe Walsh, $125.

Bellingham residents gave $249,279 overall — $208,458 to Democrats and $40,812 to Republicans. Donations included: Sanders, $47,047; Inslee $41,262; Trump, $40,737; Warren, $37,816; Buttigieg, $23,480; Yang, $10,847; Harris, $9,418; Klobuchar, $7,313; and Biden, $6,997.

From other cities:

Blaine, $28,660 — $15,318 for Democrats, led by $4,109 for Sanders; $13,342 for Republicans.

Lynden, $22,122 — $6,645 for Democrats, led by $3,614 for Sanders; $15,477 for Trump.

Ferndale, $18,465 — $12,745 for Democrats, led by $3,578 for Sanders; $5,720 for Trump.

Custer, $7,773 — $50 for Sanders; $7,723 for Trump.

Deming, $7,248 — $7,214 for Democrats, led by $2,554 for Sanders; $34 for Trump.

Lummi Island — $6,441 for Democrats, led by $2,644 for Sanders.

Point Roberts, $5,769 — $2,911 for Democrats, led by $763 for Sanders; $2,859 for Trump.

Maple Falls, $3,919 — $2,921 for Democrats, led by $1,350 for Inslee; $998 for Trump.

Sumas, $540 — $335 for Warren; $205 for Trump.

Nooksack, $219 for Trump.

Glacier, $25 for Walsh.
