Two Nevada residents face charges of posing as federal agents to try to abduct a California bank employee as part of a robbery plot, police reported.

The duo approached a woman at her home, falsely identified themselves as federal agents and informed her that she was under arrest on Nov. 17, San Jose police said in a Thursday, Feb. 20, news release.

The woman, who did not believe them, did not cooperate with her supposed arrest, and the two fled before officers arrived, police said.

An investigation found the attempted kidnapping was part of a scheme to rob a bank, police said.

Denzel Jones, 23, and Trashauna Outlaw, 21, both of Henderson, Nevada, were arrested at a Clark County jail, where they were being held on charges in unrelated bank robberies, police said.

Once extradited, they will face charges including attempted kidnapping, impersonating a federal agent, and invasion of privacy via electronic tracking, police said.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call 408-277-4161 or email 4533@sanjoseca.gov.

San Jose is about a 55-mile drive southeast from San Francisco.
