With the help of a child’s shirt, puppy survived being stabbed twice. He needs a home
A dog in Philadelphia is on the lookout for a new and happy home after surviving a heart-shattering youth.
Ang is a friendly, gleeful dog, and yet despite that, he’s still looking for a loving family to take him in, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) says.
Since September, the lovable pit bull mix has been on a healing journey after being rushed to the shelter by a hero.
“Stabbed and left for dead. A white coat covered in blood. 10-month-old Ang could have died last Friday,” the SPCA said in a Sept. 20 Facebook post. “But, instead, a Good Samaritan tied a child’s shirt around him to stem the bleeding, and rushed him to our Philadelphia headquarters.”
“With deep, penetrating wounds to his back, dangerously close to important organs, and a deep laceration on his neck, his injuries were not accidental,” the SPCA said.
“How had a young, friendly puppy like Ang received such horrific wounds? We may never know”, the SPCA said. “But, what we did know was that he needed our help (urgently.)”
After an emergency hospital stay, Ang was welcomed back at the shelter with open arms and was one happy dog despite everything he had been through.
Months later, he still needs the love of a home of his very own, and despite his positive demeanor, Ang continues to wait.
“He was failed by someone he should have trusted, but despite going through such unimaginable pain, he has proven just how strong he is,” the shelter said in a Dec. 5 Facebook post.
“With time and care, Ang has healed beautifully, and his heart is still full of love - especially for people. He is playful and full of a life that was almost taken from him, but sadly, he is so often overlooked by adopters,” the shelter said.
Despite being ignored by potential owners, Ang has been on a delightful journey that includes meeting friends from the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.
“He must have brought them some luck too - they made a huge comeback and won in overtime - something he is no stranger to,” the shelter said in a Dec. 1 post.
Now, in February, he’s gearing up to cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX when they face the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning NFL champions, the shelter said.
