Man threatened to ‘behead more Jews’ in email to Jewish funeral home, Texas cops say
An email sent to a Jewish funeral home in Texas left the owner and staff fearing for their safety, Texas police said.
A threatening email received on Oct. 29 at the Bellaire funeral home said the sender wanted to “bury more Jews,” according to court documents filed on Dec. 23.
The accused sender, identified as 33-year-old Saif Tajiran, was arrested and charged with terroristic threats, added “enhanced to” a hate crime, on Jan. 9, Bellaire police said.
His attorney did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment on Jan. 10.
The full email read, “I would like to help bury Jews so speed the process to bury more Jews. Could I get a job? If you hire me I can work fast and I will save you Jews money. Think of how great this could be! I will save us more time to bury more Jews! If you want I can behead more Jews and we can become rich together. You know us Jews have no morals, values and that we only care about ourselves! Yeshua Yahweh it will be perfect!” according to court documents.
Tajiran’s phone number was listed in the email, so investigators called him, according to court documents. During their conversation, the man told the officer “he could help to bury Jews and so on,” police said in the probable cause statement. He then ended the call.
Tajiran is held in Harris County Jail on a $50,000 bond, according to court records.
Bellaire is about a 10-mile drive southwest from downtown Houston.
