Flames spread throughout a Texas home as three children attempted to escape, police said.

Their father, a 46-year-old man, is accused of intentionally setting the home on fire on Nov. 6, Fulshear police said in a Dec. 12 Facebook post. He was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of arson on Dec. 12, according to jail records.

His attorney information was not listed. McClatchy News is not naming the father to protect the identity of the children.

Two of the children made it out of the burning home with minor injuries, but a 3-year-old was still trapped inside when first responders arrived, police said.

Officers heard “faint sounds” as they observed the scene. They climbed through a bedroom window to rescue the toddler, police said in a Facebook post.

The toddler inhaled a significant amount of smoke while they were trapped and was airlifted to a hospital, police said. They have been released after treatment.

The father was also severely injured in the fire and was in the hospital until Dec. 12, police said. He is now held in jail on a $2.3 million bond, according to jail records.

The man is also on an ICE hold, jail records said.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 13, according to court records.

Fulshear is about a 30-mile drive southwest from Houston.
