A cat in Nebraska hasn’t lost its spunk after going through a painful occurrence when living on the streets as a stray.

Chicken Wing has a very interesting name that makes perfect sense with his backstory. When the cat was brought into the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha, he was sporting a bad injury after being plucked from near a famous fast-food chain’s dumpster.

“This poor kitty came into NHS as a stray in concerning shape. He not only had a fractured arm, but the poor guy was covered in what felt and smelt like cooking oil - which we suspect was because he was found near a Popeye’s dumpster,” the shelter said in a Dec. 3 Facebook post.

“The NHS medical team immediately gave him a bath and pain medication to ease his suffering,” the group said. “After further exams, it was determined that his broken arm needed to be amputated.”

You’d think a cat would seemingly have a tough time after losing a limb, but not this one, who felt so good after surgery, his fun-loving personality started showing.

“But this guy, named Chicken Wing, is a trooper. He seemingly barely noticed his missing arm during recovery, and his true spirit began to show as he became very energetic and playful!” the shelter said. “These types of lifesaving rescues aren’t rare, and it’s only because of the support of our community that they continue to happen.”

The shelter doesn’t mention if Chicken Wing is ready for adoption.

For information about other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.
